The object of this little book is to help the children to foldaccurately and at the same time learn to handle the scissors andconstruct something that means something to them. You will find it much easier for the children to rememberthe construction of an object if it stands for something to them. They will work at it more carefully and willingly. The first fold—from back to front—which we always sug-gest to the children, looks like a book, is all very well and a prettylittle device. We read them a story from it or talk about the pictures wesee in it, and they listen most attentively. But this is worn out in a lesson or two, and we ask the littletots to tell us a story from their book—how many do it? They are not acquainted with one other, nor with the kinder-gartener, and practicalsystemi00wood 14 1 600 584 practicalsystemi00wood.img.1.0014.jpg https://archive.org/stream/practicalsystemi00wood/practicalsystemi00wood#page/n14/mode/1up is system. It stands for something and they are delighted with it. Work up to each model in the same way and the system issure to prove successful, for it has been used with greatest suc-cess even with three and four-year-old little foreigners. ^ DEDICATED TO THE WHEELOCK CLASS 07. DIRECTIONS. Fold on the dotted lines and cut on the straight lines. Lines marked x x x indicate a fold or a cut to be made afterthe foundation folding is done. The directions given here are for the kindergartener, notfor the children. For the children— Tell them in the simplest way possible, and show them at thesame time, until they can follow dictation readily. Do not be in a hurry, with this series, but take it step bystep and insist on accuracy. Begin this work the first or second week to secure the bestresults.
